Translated from swedish: It quite accurately shows how easy it is to try to shape children into someone they're not. I think it's the best version of Pinocchio I've seen. I'm going to watch it multiple times. It tells the story of the relationship between a parent and a child, but also so much more - about society, about friendship, about being allowed to be who you are, about morality and having the courage to stand up against what's wrong, whether it's those in power who are wrong or someone else.

This is beautiful beyond beautiful, filled with captivating scenery, down-to-earth and authentic characters, and performances worthy of every film award in the world. This is an instant classic and a film for all times and generations.

Translated from swedish: Tonally, this is a completely different experience from any previous version. Del Toro's distinctive passion, darkness, and fairy-tale sensibility permeates every second of "Pinocchio", and the director blends heart and pain like no one else. The gravity runs deep without becoming miserable, and the humor is perfectly eccentric without becoming silly.

Translated from swedish: Comparing Disney's latest live-action disaster to Del Toro's passion project would obviously be pointless, but it bears saying: the difference between a cynical corporate product and an artist's dream is truly striking now that Del Toro has once again showcased his most creative side. It's been a long time since Del Toro's heightened realism has captivated me in this way.

Translated from swedish: Sure, there's quite a bit here that feels familiar from earlier versions: growing noses, a greedy circus director, and a smug cricket meant to guide Pinocchio down the right path. But Guillermo del Toro's very own blend of warmth, harshness, and a touch of madness permeates the film – right down to the bombastic musical numbers and the poker-playing skeleton rabbits of the underworld.

Translated from swedish: Guillermo Del Toro loves blending everyday realism and pain with the supernatural. A magical storyteller who has crafted a dark adult fairy tale about death.

Translated from swedish: Finally, a genuinely great "Pinocchio" film by Guillermo del Toro where the wooden puppet's mischievous curiosity and boundary-testing are portrayed as a strength.

Translated from swedish: Thematically, the director is more interested in the darker aspects of Pinocchio, and despite the film being aimed at young audiences, the transformation from piece of wood to talking puppet feels pretty creepy at times, more like something out of Frankenstein than Disney.

Translated from swedish: Anyone who saved their money waiting for Guillermo del Toro's "Pinocchio" instead of blowing it on Disney's live-action film that came out earlier this fall made a smart choice.

Translated from swedish: A bit too sweet puppet version of Pinocchio

Translated from swedish: The way Pinocchio acts and speaks suggests the target audience is children, but at the same time the film is very dark and seems primarily focused on discussing fascism without explaining it in a way children can understand the subject. The ending was redone after audience protests but feels so nihilistic that I wonder what del Toro actually wanted to tell and where that disappeared to.

1. Ljud & Bild
Translated from swedish: Technically, the film is a striking masterpiece, where del Toro refines the possibilities of stop-motion animation. He brings rigid puppets, often beautifully designed, to life in a way that feels authentic – taking us straight to the heart of the Pinocchio story.
