It is an exciting, unique film and many will surely celebrate it. How we feel about this film is probably very individual. - Rosemari Södergren

What is fantasy and what is reality in "Undine"? Where are we in time? The timeline is vague. The longer sequences of lectures about the reconstruction of Berlin do not blend in; as a metaphor, they are a clumsy tool. To build, repair, rebuild. - Emma Gray Munthe

The film's vagueness also becomes a problem when its subtly discreet and consistently sparse symbolism emerges only in an unclear jumble that does nothing more than raise even more questions. Unfortunately, these questions are never resolved, and the feeling is that it may never have been the aim when Petzold put together this ambiguous fable. - Oskar Pettersson
